Vurderingssammendrag
POSITIVES
+ You can play as a player, a manager, or even both... or you can just watch the entire game world play out on its own.
+ The 3D graphics are nostalgic yet somewhat modern, even if I personally still prefer the charm of the original 2D pixels.
+ Player career is realistic and challenging, with no guarantees that your player will become a superstar.
+ Controls are easy to learn and hard to master.
+ As a player, you get regular manager feedback when you do something positive or negative.
+ In manager career, setting up your tactics is quite simple, with just enough depth to not be overwhelming.
+ It's easier to sell/loan out players you don't need anymore.
+ Having backroom staff is good, though I'm not yet sure how much purpose some of them serve.
+ Keeping historic data for every club and player in the game is huge for immersing yourself in your save.
+ So many graphical and match settings can be tweaked to have the game play out exactly how you want it to.
+ This isn't so much a football game as a football sandbox, allowing you to build pretty much any world you like, whether it's modern, historic or even completely fictional.
NEGATIVES
- The match engine can be pretty erratic in places, though I appreciate that there are regular updates to address major issues.
- In player career, it can be frustrating when team-mates don't pass to you in promising positions.
- The background images make the interface look a bit dull, though you can easily replace these if you wish.
- It would be nice to have more skin tones and hair colours/styles available for players.
All in all, this is a very solid game with a lot of potential. There aren't many other football games out there which offer so much customisation; the possibilities are endless. Even after 20 years, I hope this is only the start of better things to come.
Another issue is that the players sometimes just smash the ball out of play for no reason that I can see.

The single player game where you play the game is way too fast to have any effective control. It becomes kick and rush football.
Sensible Soccer it is NOT.
You can choose Real Madrid and play somebody from the bottom of the Cypriot league - you will have no shots on goal and get beat.
Because the game is so fast it really does not matter about individual player ratings - you just lump the ball into space in the hope somebody will latch on to it.
Dribbling is impossible.
Players constantly foul the opposition even when you don't tackle.
The manager side of the game is equally bad - too fast to make any tactical decisions - its going so fast its a blur.
Again, individual player ratings are a waste of time - they have no effect over the game.
You are forced into utterly ludicrous formations to have any chance - i.e. 3-6-1 or 6-3-1.
Don't even try to set up in a natural 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 - you will get battered by everyone.
Want to keep the same formation for 2 games on the trot? - you will get battered in the second game. Its total guesswork.
When selecting your team it would also be a help if alongside the circles on the pitch with numbers in them you had player names.
The interface is clunky and seems to have been imported from 2003 Championship Manager - it is not pretty.

Thank you for taking the time to describe your experience in detail. I would particularly like to address the game speed: you should be able to control the game and make tactical decisions. There are already settings for some of the points you raised, and there have also been concrete updates concerning fouls and player names.
Game speed
Under Game Options → Game speed, you can adjust the pace to your preference, for example to 50, 55 or 60 fps. You can also adjust the speed during a match using NumPad + and NumPad -.
If the settings or keyboard shortcuts do not respond, this may be due to a technical issue, such as the known problem involving G-Sync. In that case, please try the Precise adaptation mode if Compatible does not work. Depending on your hardware and monitor configuration, Decoupled may also help.
Different combinations of CPU, graphics card and monitor can affect how speed adaptation behaves. If you still cannot reliably adjust the pace with these settings, I will investigate the cause.
Player attributes and Daily Form
Individual player attributes do influence the game. In addition, the Daily Form setting applies influences such as morale and form on the day. It defaults to 50%, allowing for more unexpected match outcomes.
If you prefer the underlying player attributes to have a more direct influence, you can reduce this setting. At 0%, that additional influence is disabled. This does not guarantee that the stronger team will win, but it removes the additional variation introduced by Daily Form.
Fouls and player names
I have acted on your feedback about the frequency of fouls: updates 2026.09.19.1 and 2026.09.19.2 introduced settings that let you reduce tackling frequency and aggression in the game. I would recommend around 25% as a starting point. You can even set the tackling frequency of CPU-controlled players to 0%, disabling their tackles entirely.
The requested player names are also now displayed directly beside the position circles in the lineup as of the latest update. Both additions are already available for you to try.
Interface and formations
I also take your comments about the interface and formations seriously. Player career, player-manager with individual-player or full-team control, and the manager-only mode place different demands on pace and balance. I am continuing to refine that balance.
If you would like to discuss these points further, you are welcome on Discord. Your hardware and monitor details, along with whether Precise mode or the NumPad shortcuts work for you, would help me narrow down the speed issue.
I take your criticism seriously and will continue working to improve the game with each update.

Thanks for reporting this. I'd like to help you get the game running properly.
Could you share your CPU, graphics card, RAM and Windows version, and tell me where it freezes and whether any error message appears? That will help me check your setup against the game's requirements and identify what's going wrong.
You're welcome to contact me personally at any time. Discord is the easiest and quickest way to reach me, and the community and I will be happy to help: https://discord.gg/uTgCam7yDA
If the cause is a technical fault in the game, I'll investigate it personally and make resolving it promptly a priority.

Hi Tarkus, thanks for giving Championship Soccer a try. I’m sorry it left you disappointed, and I’d appreciate understanding what specifically fell short for you.
Football Manager is an understandable reference point for management depth. Championship Soccer combines a long-term management career with more arcade-style football on the pitch, alongside the choice to play as a manager, player-manager or individual footballer. Expanding the management side is an important part of its development.
The 2026 edition has already added and expanded several systems, including features available before the version you reviewed:
Those systems provide a foundation for meaningful management decisions, and their balance, clarity and influence on matches are areas I’m continuing to refine.
There have also been substantial tactical and simulation changes since your reviewed version, 2026.09.25.3. Newer builds have improved how players follow instructions for movement, passing and tempo, refined defensive positioning and attacking decisions, and strengthened how player attributes, formations and tactics affect simulated matches. Further additions include season reviews, competition prize money and clearer scouting and post-match information.
The game is still in Early Access, and I want to keep increasing its depth and the options available to players. Which parts disappointed you most: the tactical influence, squad building, transfers, training, interface, or something else? A specific example of a decision that felt ineffective, or a feature you felt was missing, would help me understand what to improve.
You’re very welcome to reply here or join us on Discord and discuss it directly with me and the community. If you’re willing to give the latest build another chance, I’d value hearing whether the changes improve your experience and where it still falls short.
My aim is to give players the best experience I can realistically deliver, and concrete community feedback helps me decide where to put that work.
